Copenhagen Specs.

Fasziniert hat mich, neben ihren wunderschönen Brillen, „THE GARDEN OF EARTHLY DELIGHTS BY MASSADA.

//english

Like last year I was able to spend a few days in my „beloved city“ Copenhagen again this year. Unfortunately, the weather did not show the good side this time and we were clothed by icy wind and snow. Therefore, we just took advantage of the variety of great restaurants that are up there and feasted us comfortably by various delicacies. The reason for the visit was anyway another – the Copenhagen Specs. The glasses fair with flair.

Copenhagen Specs in the Lokomotivværkstedet

The ambience of this eyewear fair enchanted me again this year. An old locomotive workshop serves as an exhibition venue and with beautiful and minimalist exhibition stands made of wood, the fair gets a character that is rarely seen anywhere. Compared to last year, there were also some other exhibitors who completed the entire range well. Morten G. from the Copenhagen Specs has a good sense of which exhibitors to combine and harmonize well. Well-known faces meet again and again – the industry is small. Nevertheless, I was able to discover new labels again this time. Probably the most important feature of this fair is certainly the focus on „independent labels“. Visiting this fair gives you the opportunity to speak directly with designers and brand owners and share their ideas and philosophy.

Massada Eyewear

For me, this eyewear label is an example in which one senses that there is more to the eyewear than just a wonderful design. Massada Eyewear is about identity, the enjoyment of life, the expression of joy, art, culture, idealism and reflection. Massada Eyewear is an independent eyewear brand based in Switzerland and incidentally creates various art projects with the head and creative director Kate Lupinsky, who draws her passion from deep curiosity and respect for the world. In addition to her beautiful glasses, „THE GARDEN OF EARTHLY DELIGHTS BY MASSADA NO PUNISHMENT“, I was fascinated by the picture specially made in the style of Hieronymus Bosch’s „The Garden of Delights“. In contrast to El Bosco, the Massada works without any „punishment“ and convinces with present figures and objects like Kim Kardashian or spectacle lenses. The work contains innumerable hidden details, mysterious meanings, detailed compositions, wonderful colors and yet signed with the handwriting of Massada. A wonderful work.

Friends, Eyewear Family and Flair.

For me, the fair was actually another source of inspiration and provided the most important trends in the eyewear industry. There will be a brand new version of the Copenhagen Specs in Berlin this year in October 2018. I’m curious to see what subtleties Morten G. will surprise us there and which labels will use the chance of a new fair in style. I am happy to show you some impressions of my visit to the eyewear fair in Copenhagen, where the feeling of „Hygge“ always accompanied me.

Copenhagen Specs

//At the beginning of March I was able to tell you about a great show in Copenhagen. The Copenhagen Specs, which clearly sets its focus on independent eyewear offers a special atmosphere with its location, you can find more about it here. At a fair you can always find new interesting labels, which you can remember and which you want to get know much better. Of course, I do not want to keep these labels for myself and I have presented you them here.

Happy Birthday faceprint

//I almost can’t believe, that my eyewear blog faceprint.eyewearlove actually celebrated his first birthday. But birthdays have to be celebrated and for this reason there was a give away on my blog where you could win one of three sunglasses.

The Bespoked Dudes

HOT!

// Recently I became attentive to a label >> The Bespoke Dudes Eyewear << which puts the „man“ clearly in the foreground. Perhaps for this reason I haven’t noticed it before, but after a closer look „woman“ will also find adorable accessories. Bespoke Dudes Eyewear is a collection of hand-made sunglasses and glasses produced in Italy, selected by Fabio Attanasio, who is also the founder of the famous Italian The Bespoke Dudes blog. For me, the spectacle label is the embodiment of elegant, Italian lifestyle. HOT!

//The month was rounded off with our New York trip. We have visited Vision Expo East – the eyewear fair in New York. Only yesterday we came back and the jet lag makes itself a little noticeable. A detailed report about New York, Vision Expo East and LOFT Independent eyewear show will follow of course in the upcoming posts.

Copenhagen Specs . loved ones

//As everywhere, there are also very special brands in the eyewear industry. These brands mostly have that certain something, maybe the frames are not more special or better, but the brand is filled with emotion and this is for me one of the most essential criteria next to the quality. I want to be able to tell stories and I want to feel the history of the brands. At the Copenhagen Specs, I was able to meet many well-known brands and their latest collections, but I was also able to make some new discoveries.

SALT.

Air. Land and timeless connection. Und Ana – the lovely heart of the crew – ist einfach wunderbar.

// For me, SALT. is more than just a brand. At SALT., you can feel that all people live what the brand tells us. SALT. stands for Sea. Air. Land and timeless connection. The SALT. glasses reflect the California lifestyle. At Copenhagen Specs I had time to talk to the designer David and also to Ana. David passionately talked about the idea and the story of SALT. and you can feel that he loves what he does. And Ana the lovely heart of the crew is simply wonderful.

ESSEDUE

// Behind Essedue stands the Italian label, which in its spectacles allow to incorporate art, design and wear comfort. The colorful collection is convincing with the refinement and details. Therefore the use miraculous acetate in various combinations. Essedue can draw on many years of experience in the optics industry, and it is precisely this know-how what they bring into their spectacles.

Komono

//Komono, which means „little things“ is a brand that comes from Belgium. Design and reflection of cultures are linked to this brand. The great advantage of Komono is definitely the lower price segment (from approx. 49.- €), in which they are. I was really surprised by the quality and the design of the label, which perfectly incorporated features like „simplicitiy“.

Karmoie

//Wonderful, I find the new label I discovered, Karmoie from Norway. Minimalism pure in the highest quality can be found here. The brand manages to draw attention with its simple design and casual forms to their glasses and you really want to get to know the brand much better if you seen them for the first time.

Mora eywear

//Have you ever seen a pair of marble glasses? I am not but when my blogger colleagues showed me the brand, I could not get out of my astonishment. The Italian brand processes finest marble or different rocks with a lot of handwork in beautiful spectacles. Admittedly, the glasses are not a featherweight, but the feeling of the honed stone on the face is indescribable.

Suzy Glam

Ganz ehrlich.

//Honestly. The brand Suzy Glam I imagined quite different. You have such a certain image in your head and I must confess that the collection has convinced me even more. I find it difficult to describe the style, because it is individual and special. Especially good. The colors are laid, calm and unicoloured, but the shapes are characteristic.

Paper and Paper eyewear

//Paper is only there for painting? Absolutely not. Because of paper you can make glasses, not somehow, not somewhere, but in Spain. With a very special technique, paper chips are incorporated into the various acetate plates – in collection, on the acetate – out collection or the metal collection, where the paper is again worked on the frame. Colorful comics, the favorite romance, fashion magazines or the personal diary can be used for this. Each pair of glasses is unique and can not be compared with any other. Much craftsmanship and attention to detail are implemented here.

//This was just a small excerpt from the „biodiversity“ that was shown at Copenhagen Specs. New brands to research, to see them and then to experience them is for me one of the most beautiful things at all. Sometimes you are convinced, sometimes not. But I have to say that a very good preselection was already made from the Danish eyewear fair. If you want to learn more about new labels, I will gladly take you with me to my next eyewear fair in New York at the end of March. About a year ago, I have expressed my wish that a visit to the eyewear fair in NYC is on the top of my wish list and see there …. sometimes you have to outward your desires and then they become actually true. I am really looking forward to it and can not wait to take you with me via Instagram.

Copenhagen Specs

Also findet man dort kein Ray Ban, Prada, Chanel oder co.

//So Morten G. has invited me to this year’s Copenhagen Specs, the fair for independent eyewear, my pleasure was really great. Because I have already heard a lot good about this small, but very special eyewear fair in a great atmosphere. This fair is clearly focusing on INDEPENDENT, which means that (nearly) only independent eyewear brands are represented. So there is no Ray Ban, Prada, Chanel or co. In fact you can find quite different sizes at this fair, eg. Andy Wolf, Salt, Blackfin or Oliver Goldsmith. Perhaps these names are not so well-known in the fashion world, but those who are interested in eyewear won’t miss these glasses brands. Style, trend, quality and lifestyle are just a few buzzwords that characterize all these eyewear brands. As with my Opti review, I just would like to give you a brief glimpse of the exhibition with some pictures. At my next post you can find out more about the highlights of the fair.
