Luxury class in the face

Emotional.

Blickfang

Emotionally. Luxury is an irrational form of consumption and is usually characterized by highly emotional behavior. While glitter and bling bling were once traits of all sorts of luxury, nowadays terms such as individuality and sustainability are related. In recent years, there has been a completely new definition and mindset in the context of luxury, which above all, does not include material aspects. You do not need luxury, you have to want luxury.

Eyecatcher

One of the most expensive glasses in the world are the sunglasses Cartier Paris 18K Gold which is equipped with sparkling diamonds and was crafted with a gold frame. Currently, the value of the glasses is set at around 22,000 Euro. Does this piece of jewelery actually correspond to the luxury features of today? Characteristics such as quality, individuality, sustainability or exclusive services are increasingly becoming the focus of attention and are regarded as the true luxury of the current era.

Luxury of today

Being in harmony with nature means appreciating it and experiencing a conscious time. But many glasses wearers go one step further here and deliberately make use of natural materials for their eyewear. Wooden glasses are an indispensable part of our industry and with their passion for natural materials and high quality standards, the Rolf Spectacles from Tyrol shine in the luxury category of nature. Custom made and individual for big and small heads, thick or thin noses. Wearers of glasses are often willing to spend a few more money, if the perfect fit and absolute comfort can be guaranteed. Luxury of today is individuality, without ifs and buts. Today’s 3D printing process for eyewear offers this luxury and manufacturers like You Mawo can win with their expertise. Luxury thing.

The new attitude to plastic has already found its way into the eyewear industry and labels like sea2see open up completely new perspectives. True to the motto: from 100% Marina waste 100% handmade in Italy, sailors daily fish 1 ton of garbage from the ocean to sort the garbage afterwards and to process it in glasses and sunglasses. Sustainable luxury class. Many other types of luxury define themselves in our time, where stories and experiences gain in importance. Glitter and glamor keep fading into the background. Look and listen to the next purchase of glasses even closer because maybe a pair of glasses tells a story that means pure luxury for you.

Always at my side

TMA mein treuer Begleiter

Try it.

Wear it.

Love it.

Happy Birthday Titan Minimal Art. Danke für spannende Jahre, danke du treuer Begleiter und ‚cheers to new adventure‘ und einer visionären Zukunft.

Well, there I sit again and write down my thoughts about a small, delicate and filigree legend. I’m not talking about a person here, not about art, not about fashion. I write about glasses, which from a personal point of view also a phenomenal work of art. Today I am writing specifically about the Titan Minimal Art (TMA) from Silhouette. And when I write these words and sink into my thoughts, the complete thing feels to me like a great Déjà-vu.

TMA my faithful companion

The Déjà-vu is real, because exactly 10 years earlier in 2009, I have already thought intensively about this beautiful and so filigree legend. Because at that time I worked together with Silhouette on my diploma thesis. I researched the origins of the TMA closely, I looked at the development and recorded the status. It was exciting then. Today too. Nevertheless, this topic also makes me thinking. Because with such thoughts you can see very real, how long you have been dealing with a certain topic already, how long you have been in the industry and sometimes to speak less positively that you actually already got a bit old.

Lightness on the face

The TMA is still the lightest eyewear in the world. 11.5 million times the Titan Minimal Art has already been sold worldwide. For 20 years the glasses are celebrated for their lightness. Minimalist design is high-lived and 100% made in Austria is also titled at the TMA. But even if so little material is processed at this frame, the design team manages to redefine the glasses again and again. So I waited very excitedly for the 20 years edition of Titan Minimal Art. It is a futuristic collection but also edgy and stylish as well and as always with maximum comfort while wearing the glasses. You notice it is a hymn of praise to Silhouette and the TMA. But from my point of view just fair. Honor to whom honor is due!

So for 10 years, the glasses are firmly anchored in or on my head. For a month now I have been wearing the 20 years special edition >> style in a new dimension << already on my nose. This is a good feeling. I can tell you. Happy Birthday Titan Minimal Art. Thank you for exciting years, thank you faithful companion and  ‚cheers to new adventure‘ and a visionary future.

The first snow has already fallen and I am just lucky to enjoy these snowflakes in the ski resort in Sölden, Tyrol. While skiing is not the focus of this excursion, we did not want to miss the glacier view. Although I have seen a lot of snow, the first snow in the year is always special. When you feel the snow on your feet for the first time of the year and you can see the snowy mountains, the tingling sensation for the skiing and snowboarding season really begins.

Glasses in the snow

I am wearing my Ski pants, put on cap and scarf and we just started towards the glacier. Of course the matching sunglasses are with me. For such winter conditions and strong sunshine on the mountain, I won’t leave my eyes to any kind of glasses. The glasses should always bring the certain sporty chic with them. And with this outfit, I decided to go for the Wildcharge from Adidas produced by Silhouette. With the ribbed temple and adjustable nose pads, the glasses offers an absolute wearing comfort. The contrast-enhancing glasses are ideal in nature and above all in the snow. All these points make the glasses perfect for this trip, perfect for sport as well, yet the design is modern.

BESTIMMT!

The colorful drive on the ski slope has a special flair. Even if I did not ride down the slope this time, I know that it will dot it soon, with my skies or snowboard. YES!

Austria meets Austria

As an Eyewear-Blogger you have from time to time benefits that I really like. Especially if this advantage means that I advance may take a little insight on the still „strictly – secret mission“ of a new eyewear collection, a new pair of glasses, a campaign or cooperation. This has something tingling and because of my passion for eyewear, this is just something satisfying for me. The secret mission of Silhouette has now been presented at the fashion show in Milan and may I add an insight also.

arthur-arbesser-for-silhouette_1

This year the company Silhouette has cooperate with the shooting star among the young fashion designers „Arthur Arbesser„: Arthur Arbesser is like Silhouette for reduction to the essential, tailored quality, style security and added his passion for the game of contrasts. The result of this design collaboration is the Special Edition „Arthur Arbesser for Silhouette“.

By the creation of his first eyewear collection, Arthur Arbesser was inspired from the lifestyle of Arthur Miller during his time with Marilyn Monroe. Contrasts in color and form are highlighted and round and angular design elements are stylish united. The lightness of the glasses – as well known from Silhouette – is just terrific. In my eyes it is a very successful first collection of sunglasses, which impresses with Style and generates recognition.

In my look I chose the color Classic Grey Gradient. I like the simplicity and the pleasant color combination for cooler autumn days with mild sunrays. Days on which you are sitting in a cafe, with your back to the wall and a blanket over your feet. Days on which every single sunbeam counts and a tasty appetizer is still better than drinking warm tea. Exactly on these days, Arthur Arbesser Classic Grey Gradient and I will be often allied.

I like it when good paths cross again. And so it is with the company Silhouette and me. For years, I am constantly in contact with the Austrian company and I like to follow the different paths and steps that this company take. My thesis – which of course is about eyewear, I then wrote with silhouette. The more I was pleased to get a glimpse into their Arthur-Arbesser mission. And I’m curious to see how the paths will cross in the future.
