The fabulous world of glasses

Annu GmbH, Eque.M, LAURENCE D’ARI bvba, ALF, Tough character Eyewear, LookAdd, Covrt Project Limited, LEINZ EYEWEAR, Unsuikyo, BRETT Eyewear, CAZO Origine, LIGHTBIRD srl, O-CCX Eyewear, UDM

Komono

//english

A successful start. This year opti 2020 not only presented a beautiful, newly designed press lounge, but rather a venue for all eyewear enthusiasts. The additional halls and their new arrangement were hardly a topic in the second year and you could feel that the newly won space also brought new positive vibes with it.

#bloggerspectacle After a “small” shopping tour on Friday for our optics shops (Bitsche and Hingucker), the Saturday with the blogger spectacle 2020 started almost on time at 9.30. As always at the beginning of the tour, the focus was on the Opti Boxes, where young labels could present themselves with their works and ideas. Here is an overview of the labels:

Annu GmbH, Eque.M, LAURENCE D’ARI bvba, ALF, Tough character Eyewear, LookAdd, Covrt Project Limited, LEINZ EYEWEAR, Unsuikyo, BRETT Eyewear, CAZO Origine, LIGHTBIRD srl, O-CCX Eyewear, UDM

The winner of this year’s Blogger Awards was COVRT PROJECT, which was also one of my favorites. The young label combines fashion with innovation. The design of their eyewear case, which can be carried as a bag, is particularly convincing and arouses curiosity to learn more about the brand.

Afterwards there was a trend talk about social media in the opti forum. During this conversation I was able to present my expertise in this area alongside Niklas Götzen von Aumedo and Martin Bolm from the Wettbewerbszentrale. It was really fun for me to contribute this discussion and I hope that the one or the other listener could also take something along for his optical business.

The afternoon was this year for free. Therefore, appointments with interesting brands could be made in advance. This guaranteed an intensive look at the collections and the personal conversation with the different brands provided a lot of information and inputs. „Hands up“ for this division. From my point of view this was a great development of the Blogger Spectacles.

Everything on schedule?

I would say yes. Personally, I have not discovered THE ONE new innovation, but I would like to mention a few brands that I noticed particularly positively for various reasons.

Julbo

Goodbye smartwatch. Julbo presented the first revolutionary sports data glasses: EVAD-1. It shows various live data in real time directly in the field of glasses. The athletes have important performance parameters in view at all times and can still concentrate fully on the practice of their sport. A real innovation.

Komono

Young, fashionable and value for money is on top. I am always looking for a eyewear label that presents a stylish collection and yet affordable for the young target group. Komono is not unknown to me and is convincing again this year with a stylish eyewear collection that can be worn with pleasure.

Lunor

A classic, high quality line with a small excerpt of color. This is how Lunor presents itself. As always, very stylish and sophisticated. A brand with consistency and know-how that always reinterprets wonderful classics.

Hoffmann Natural Eyewear

The cooperation between Hoffmann Natural Eyewear and Sarah Settgast is a real joy for the eyes. Aesthetic, creative implementations made of horn that are still wonderfully portable. The visual language is also wonderful. Congratulations.

Götti Switzerland

Persistence, calm and passion. At Götti it is always exciting and pleasant. The ideas never stops and innovations are guaranteed. Currently one of my favorite collections: Götti Dimension, which combines 3D print and titanium. Wonderful masterpieces.

EOE eyewear

Would you like to do something for the environment? Yes sure. Scandinavian design by Emilia and Erik from EOE with a positive footprint for the environment. The glasses are all sustainably produced and 100% recyclable.

SALT optics

If you have been following my blog for a long time, SALT OPTICS brand is not strange to you. SALT is convincing in its current collection with fresh designs and of course with “high end” glasses and sunglasses.

Tribe app

An app that can actually revolutionize the world of eyewear. You are looking for the perfect glasses, in the right color with the perfect comfort and fit? Tribe makes exactly that possible. Because this app offers a live „try-on“ that couldn’t be easier. But stay tuned – soon I’ll be happy to tell you more about it.

Finally, it can be said that the fair was again a great highlight and further strengthens my passion for eyewear. The blogger Spectacle is a successful event that enables the exchange between us bloggers and also presents a good overview of new products. The opti show is one of the most important trade fairs in our industry and I am looking forward to 2020 when the opti will take place in Stuttgart for the first time.

Luxury class in the face

Emotional.

Blickfang

//english

Emotionally. Luxury is an irrational form of consumption and is usually characterized by highly emotional behavior. While glitter and bling bling were once traits of all sorts of luxury, nowadays terms such as individuality and sustainability are related. In recent years, there has been a completely new definition and mindset in the context of luxury, which above all, does not include material aspects. You do not need luxury, you have to want luxury.

Eyecatcher

One of the most expensive glasses in the world are the sunglasses Cartier Paris 18K Gold which is equipped with sparkling diamonds and was crafted with a gold frame. Currently, the value of the glasses is set at around 22,000 Euro. Does this piece of jewelery actually correspond to the luxury features of today? Characteristics such as quality, individuality, sustainability or exclusive services are increasingly becoming the focus of attention and are regarded as the true luxury of the current era.

Luxury of today

Being in harmony with nature means appreciating it and experiencing a conscious time. But many glasses wearers go one step further here and deliberately make use of natural materials for their eyewear. Wooden glasses are an indispensable part of our industry and with their passion for natural materials and high quality standards, the Rolf Spectacles from Tyrol shine in the luxury category of nature. Custom made and individual for big and small heads, thick or thin noses. Wearers of glasses are often willing to spend a few more money, if the perfect fit and absolute comfort can be guaranteed. Luxury of today is individuality, without ifs and buts. Today’s 3D printing process for eyewear offers this luxury and manufacturers like You Mawo can win with their expertise. Luxury thing.

The new attitude to plastic has already found its way into the eyewear industry and labels like sea2see open up completely new perspectives. True to the motto: from 100% Marina waste 100% handmade in Italy, sailors daily fish 1 ton of garbage from the ocean to sort the garbage afterwards and to process it in glasses and sunglasses. Sustainable luxury class. Many other types of luxury define themselves in our time, where stories and experiences gain in importance. Glitter and glamor keep fading into the background. Look and listen to the next purchase of glasses even closer because maybe a pair of glasses tells a story that means pure luxury for you.

Italian flair with Liu Jo

With Vintage Sunglasses at the lake I started my prelude to the Liu Jo series on my blog. A shoot at the Bregenz Lakeside Theatre, which again shines breathtakingly in the water this year. Liu Jo is an Italian brand that is distinctive in its style. This style is also recognizable in their glasses and sunglasses. Creativity, elegance and extravagance are words which describes the current collection. A feast for the eyes at the collection show. In addition to beautiful sunglasses with vintage touch, there are also sunglasses in Cat Eye style or octogonal versions in the collection. But not only the sunglasses shine with Italian attributes, also their frames.

Italian fashion, style-forming and unique

The Italian style is unmistakable in international comparison with other fashion styles. This is not only due to the designers who design the fashion, but especially to the wearers. They give the Italian fashion the unmistakable, distinctive character. Today I present to you on my eyewear blog FACEPRINT a classic and discreet glasses of Liu Jo. The round metal glasses are convincing, not only because of their simplicity, but also because of their size, which makes the glasses a real eye-catcher. The Liu Jo eyewear collection reflects the natural femininity and beauty of today’s woman. Without seeming false and without kitsch. In fact, there are many more refined ornaments in the foreground and charming details that give the versions a feminine touch. Soon you will see more of this on my Instagram feed. Be curious.

We could not have chosen a more suitable location for this shoot than the Montforthaus in Feldkirch. The newly built Culture and Congress Center is state of the art, stylish and elegant. Just like the glasses of Liu Jo, the location is unobtrusive and looks attractive when viewed. A little „dolce vita“ and the reverie for Italy were still felt. Because in my mind I was already on my next Italy vacation …

Masse mit Klasse

Bold

Filigran. Leicht. Titan. Metall.

Mass with class

Bold. Filigree. Light. Titanium. Metal. These are probably the keywords that describe the current collections of the manufacturers best. Maximum comfort is guaranteed, lightness is highly valued and restrained design highly praised. But what do you think when I say that the mass have the class?

Less is more

Really? Maybe not always, because in fact the trend of metal eyewear, thin frames and real lightweights is an absolute must-have in the business. The demand for these glasses is still growing steadily and the graduated trend is also well presented on the advertising images. Everyone will know the benefits of this trend and probably appreciate. That’s a good thing. But in addition to all this restraint, a series of eyewear always has room. It’s the bold vintage classics that are heavy on the face, yet convincing in style, elegance and classic. These glasses are already more than just a trend. They are a certain way of life and support a very specific lifestyle. A lifestyle that is surrounded for example by classic cars, pleasant wine, good food and breathtaking sunsets.

Elegance that always remains.

Trend or not, the bold retro glasses were always there, are still there and will most likely still be there in the future. Luckily! And I mean that from the bottom of my heart. As an eyewear blogger, I follow a lot of trends, do research and act, I try and maybe dare more about the designs. But as a true eyewear wearer with -9.00 diopters at both eyes, it’s a good feeling to be able to rely on the vintage classics. It is good to wear eyewear with a certain elegance and to belong to the lifestyle of the „Bon Vivant“ people. (As a bon vivant we refer to a person who is dedicated to the pleasant side of life, especially good food.) It is a great feeling to wear eyewear in which my rather thick glasses are well hidden. So not every trend has to be in your wardrobe, but elegance and style always have a place on the face.

A man of the world …

Christopher Cloos is a man of the world, that’s for sure. I do not know who he is. But this man changed the life of two Danish entrepreneurs who spent their holidays in the south of France. When they met this man, they just loved his way of life, the way he was speaking and his awesome collection of classic retro sunglasses. He was a bon vivant. One dedicated to the pleasant side of life, especially good food. He was a man of style, elegance and he lived the lifestyle of the French Cote d’Azur. He was a muse.

Christopher Cloos Eyewear

The company was founded two years ago and now has more than 500 retailers worldwide. The brand knows how to interpret classic design with a modern touch. The glasses are high quality and only the best material are processed. Although they have a quality like the high-end brands, the glasses cost less than half the price. But the most exciting thing about this brand is the attitude to life that they convey through their glasses and pictures. These are the vibes of Southern France and the beaches after which the four models are named. (Paloma, Mala, Passable and St. Barths.)

Bon Vivant

I’m sure we will hear a lot from Christopher Cloos also in the future. Some of us will read about it, others will see the glasses and the „Bon Vivants“ among us will wear the glasses. Day in, day out. And if you are one of those, who wears these glasses you will feel these French vibes, live the lifestyle and discover the world with grandios glasses. You will love it.

Do you also want to discover the world with a pair of Christopher Cloos sunglasses? Then keep checking my blog. Soon I will have a give away of one of the stylish sunglasses.
