MATRIX eyewear is back

Darf jeder diesen Brillentrend tragen?

Wer bietet was?

An unmistakable look, which astonishes the other person, is about attitude. It is about self-confidence and statement, but it’s not about pure provocation and attention. A distinctive look can be kept understated, it can be worn by color or shown with materials. Eyewear is often about forms. Even if a trend is booming, it does not mean that this trend is suitable for everyone and this is exactly the question that arises for me in this year’s comeback of the Matrix glasses. I have already published my opinion in my DOZ column and you can read the facts also here on my blog.

Fashion is not style

As Coco Chanel used to say, „Fashion changes, but style endures“. A saying that probably everyone has heard before and the truth is probably undeniable. Also in our industry, we have already seen some trends – come and go – also various repetitions are obvious. But a trend is only worth something if it is also stylishly implemented. And what does the Matrix eyewear trend mean now? And even more important is the question: How is this trend implemented in style?

Hello Matrix glasses. Hello 90s.

Do you still know these little black, very edgy and especially narrow glasses? The joy was great when this trend was over and you could decorate your face with big glasses. But almost 20 years later, the Matrix glasses celebrate their big comeback. Even though it is difficult to imagine expanding his eyewear presentation in the business of these forms, it should be said that any IT girl (whether TV star, influencer or blogger) already has such glasses in his repertoire. Customer demand for these models can not be long, and campaigns from individual brands, such as Vogue Eyewear with Gigi Hadid, are already present everywhere.

Does it make sense?

Some trends, including eyewear trends like this are sometimes more accessory than actually useful. Matrix glasses are correctly worn at the very front of the bridge of the nose. The eyes are not protected from the sun, however, so the glasses can be worn at every evening event and even on the red carpet. If you want to set a trend statement it definitely makes sense to have such glasses. If you want to do something good for your eyes, then you better go to a different and above all larger model.

Can everyone wear this eyewear trend?

There is a definite NO from my side. The glasses belong to the category of XS sunglasses and for this reason I also prefervmore oval and smaller face shapes for these models. Likewise, there is a certain amount of styling courage that only works when combined with style. To put it again in words by Coco Chanel:

Simplicity is the keynote of all true elegance

Who offers what?

You feel that you are the right type for Matrix glasses? If so, I also like to tell you which eyewear labels already offer these glasses. I can tell you that you’ll find them at Vogue Eyewear, Komono, Ambush or even Andy Wolf, just to name a few. Have fun shopping.
